Ace of Base
It started with South Park. Or with that I could say it started with being in America. An episode of South Park featured a bunch of catchy melodies googled out to be Ace of Base's "All that She Wants" and "The Sign". Then it was quickly revealed that the "Don't Turn Around" that held my attention during a late lunch, amidst nachos and cheese, on that wintry afternoon three years ago at Greek Peak Ski Resort's cafe was performed by the same group. As well as "Cruel Summer", one in Yongliang's collection, a library of foreign sounds, at the incipient months of life in Cornell. (The effort to look for other songs by the group was a huge disappointment in consequence of unvarying key, beat and themes.)
Reasonably, Ace of Base could well have been a part of my middle school / high school years. Once again I felt like a super unobservant witness, passing right by a screaming victim and not seeing any action in full swing. Where have I been? Those were the days of sitting by the window on the second deck of a bus. It was so easy to slip into my own world.
